Staring Contest [Jackie]

[Eurydice Knight]

It was quite early in the morning by the time Eurydice reached the safety of the Viridian forest trees. After travelling all night, its quite obvious that both her and Luciel were quite exhausted. Luciel, who padded beside her steadily looked around in awe. It had become progressively darker ever since they entered the Viridian forest because the sunlight was filtered by the leaves up ahead. Eurydice walked quietly, her ears alert. The sounds of other Pokemon echoed from all around her. To reach Pewter city, she had to pass the city that she hates the most in the entire world--Viridian City. Her idea was to rest a while near the outskirts of the forest and skirt past the city at night. And then she's out. She would remind herself that she is not going to come back anywhere near Viridian city. 

"Tired?" She asked Luciel in Poke-speak. The Eevee shook his head, bouncing around to prove that he's not tired. Truth to be told, he was ready to be overwhelmed with fatigue. Although Eurydice have yet to properly really train him against any wild Pokemon, he would consider this training his stamina. He glanced up at Eurydice wondering why she wasn't tired yet. They had walked from Route 1, to Route 2 to the Viridian forest in an entire night. Jeez, shouldn't she be at least wanting a rest?

Meanwhile, Eurydice was focusing her entire Pokemon senses on any footsteps or approaching people. They had wandered away from the main forest path that trainers take, but she could still smell the stale scent of human, even this deep in the jungle. Now who could it be? It scented unfamiliar. Probably a passing trainer. Eurydice shrugged towards her self. Better be safe than sorry. Her Pokemon senses were much more useful than her human ones. Her hearing and nose was sharper. Her eyes could detect movement. She was going to need them if she wanted to avoid detection from Giovanni.

"Now we just need to find a place to rest." She told Luciel, skirting past some rough thickets. Oh shoot. Something sharp sliced past her leg right above the socks. She accidentally grazed herself over a straying branch. Eurydice lashed her tail in agitation as small drops of blood seeped out. "Damn, it could be infected." She swore under her breath. 

Luciel bounced around, clearly concerned about his trainer's reaction to blood. He was smaller, and had better view to the wound. "It's not deep." He reported, sniffing the scratch. "Let's just find a place to rest? And finish the book." 

Eurydice nodded. Her only annoyance was that she couldn't blend in well with the forest. Her blue ears and tail were quite obvious in the dense thicket. While Luciel was the color of a more natural earthy brown, Eurydice stuck out everywhere. She hoped that they was no trainer that was going to be passing through.

Another trainer and his partner were getting quite annoyed. They'd been in this forest for whoever knew long. It felt like every path was winding and lead right back to where they began. And for a trainer like Jackie, it grew tiresome not on his body, but his nerves. He was understandably becoming more and more annoyed with each passing path that he and Charmander went down. Some human interaction would've been nice, at least. Thus far, it had been annoying bug types and flying types pecking his eyes out. Agh. Oh well. No use in complaining. Jackie had grown silent. He and Charmander shared that trait at least. The two were serious. Especially in the presence of other trainers.

Passing through another path, the two heard something. As well as saw something. Jack narrowing his eyes and wondering just what could it be. It had some pretty huge ears that stuck out like a sore thumb. If it was a Pokémon, it was huge. Well. No use in standing there. Nodding, he walked forth cautiously. Approaching Eurydice carefully and slowly. His curiosity piked at the girl's appearance. A cosplayer in the forest? What the...uh. Whatever. "....?"

Eurydice was about to scrape the blood off her cut when another sound made her pause. Was that footsteps? The sound of another trainer approaching caused Eurydice to flatten her ears and look around for a place to hide. His scent was human. Hopefully the trainer haven't seen her yet. Hopefully. She quickly used her nose. The trainer didn't smell like the lab, so he should be just a normal human trainer. She felt Luciel stiffen beside her. It was possible that the trainer haven't seen him yet, because of his earthly brown color that blends well with the darkness of the forest. "You're a cosplayer!" Luciel hissed softly beside her. The Eevee knew full well now, why Eurydice didn't want to risk the idea of her being half-Pokemon half-human out there into the open. "A cosplayer training her Pokemon. A bit lost" That sounds just about right. She was beginning to panic now, and she struggled to stay calm in the situation. If she was so calm when battling other wild Pokemon with Luciel, then she should be able to hold the situation just fine. She had to relax. It's just a human to not-so-human interaction. Maybe the trainer will just past through without seeing her. Of course, he'll have to be quite blind to do that. 

Oh crap. He already had a full view of her. He seemed quite confused when he noticed that she looked quite human but had the ears. She wanted to hide. But her blue ears and tail makes it kind of obvious in the forest, doesn't it? She doesn't have any method now to run away without making it too painfully obvious. She had to follow with Luciel's plan. Follow it. Her tail begin to swing in agitation and her pupils dilated in fear. The pressure was really on her to act like a normal human being. She didn't like the sudden rush of human-like emotions that she was feeling. "Uh." She said, in human-language. "I'm uh... a cosplayer." She said lamely. "Training my Pokemon." Her ears flattened lower at the words.

She stepped behind a tree. It was a small tree, so her ears and tail were still sticking out. Her tail was positively lashing from side to side now, no hiding it. "So long!" She called, looking at her Eevee who was struggling either to laugh or look serious. She glared at him seriously. It caused him to shut up.

She was panicking. Strange, a normal cosplayer wouldn't have been so quick to stutter and react so abruptly. Something, just something, told Jackie that this girl wasn't quite what she seemed. He could kind of feel it. But Charmander, in the other hand, knew right away. This girl was talking to her Eevee like she knew it for all of her life. That being said, it wasn't the formalities that set him off. But the fact that this girl was quite literally speaking the same language that he and his kin spoke. "You're a bad liar," Charmander said. His small arms folding over one another. His head tilted a little off to the side and his large eyes focused in on the Eevee.

She suddenly escaped. Or, moved. Escaped was too great a term for her course of actions. Rather than move and run off, the poor lass darted behind a thin tree. Her large ears and tail in full view. Another thing: Jackie noticed her ears move as she spoke. Her tail as well. It was weird. Well, the only thing he could do was investigate further. He followed her. Turning 'round the tree and getting back into Eurydice's area of ordinance. Looking at her and inspecting her further. There was some genuine madness going on. Her ears looked way too real. Everything was, well, real. But was she? "...." His eyes narrowed with suspicion before opening back fully up. Now he just wore the usual nonchalant expression he normally had equipped.
