It was nearing 1:00 AM in the morning by the time Eurydice reached Route 2. Not reached, they were basically just wandering around. Eurydice still feels that the best training grounds were here and the Viridian forest. Luciel yawned widely, trudging after his trainer. Although tired, he was feeling wide awake. It had been a week now since they left the lab, and Luciel was quite sure that he has became nocturnal at this point. Eurydice blinked at him, her arms still wrapped around the egg that they got from the lab. They had no means of keeping the egg warm, so it was Luciel's job to curl around the egg every noon while they rested and slept to warm the egg as much as he could. During the night, it was Eurydice trying t owarm the egg with her body temperature although the method was quite failing. Eurydice's body temperature was lower than a normal human, and when antagonized, the air around her drops in temperature. Even Luciel could feel the cold sometimes.
"Are you up for some training?" Eurydice whispered towards the Eevee. Her eyes could see well in the dark, possibly some lab enhancement. Because if she was a normal human, she would be stumbling around in pitch black. Remember, there are no street lights in the dark. Luciel, who was a Pokemon and could easily see well in the dark perked his ears in delight at the word 'training.'
"Of course, lol!" Luciel replied, bounding around. He wanted to show off his fighting skills in front of Eurydice. "But is it okay for us to ambush wild Pokemon in the dark?"
Eurydice nodded. "Yeah. Most of the baby Pokemon would be asleep with their mothers, and the only Pokemon that we would encounter would be Pokemon looking for food or battle training to impress their friends. It's most likely that the wild Pokemon will approach us. I've heard a bunch of Rattatas talking about it this afternoon in our hiding spot. Seems to be quite eager to please his girlfriend." Luciel sighed. Why does his trainer have to know everything? She was aware of everything and knows everything. And then at some point in the past, he had thought that he was smart. But his eyes were still bright and shining with eagerness.
"Alright then, let's do this!" He said, sniffing around to try and catch a scent.

Gender: Male / Level: 6 / Ability: Keen Eye Moves: Tackle, growl, foresight, hypnosis, defogHoothoot used tackle! Hoothoot used hypnosis! As the pair ventured about, a small hoothoot made his nightly rounds. He wasn't on any desperate hunt for food or late night hunting session or anything like that. He was simply a little bird that preferred the night. His eye were hurt terribly by the harsh light of the daytime, and the night was much more nice to his light sensitive eyes. This meant that he flew about now, and looked down to the oddly dressed girl and her eevee. 'Easy' was his first thought, before he started to fly down, going for a barreling tackle attack, before he opened his already large eyes up to the eevee, attempting to use hypnosis. He wasn't a very bitter hoothoot who hated the world or anything like that, he simply could be a little cheap sometimes, and liked to win.

At the last possible second, Eurydice's alert ears managed to pick out the sound of body diving through air. " Watch out!" Eurydice's warning came too late for Luciel. Luciel could not even careen out of the way. The entire bulk of the Hoothoot who crashed out from the sky hit him, sending him sprawling a few meters away. He rolled over quickly, managing to dodge the Hoothoot's red eyes and the beams that he shot from it. Eurydice blinked, her eyes scanning at the Hoothoot. Obviously male, approximately a higher level than Luciel, known moves right now are Hypnosis and tackle... seemingly likes cheap tactics. Huh. Interesting. Eurydice didn't know that Hoothoot would venture that far from the Viridan forest. But then of course, they were also nocturnal Pokemon. She seized up her thoughts, knowing that she had to act fast. If the Hoothoot has hypnosis on it, it will never stop sending those dizzying beams to her Eevee until Luciel falls asleep. She must not let Luciel fall asleep, because they might lose up to two to five rounds. And judging by the amount of damage the tackle has given the little Eevee... he wouldn't even survive his first ever battle with her. Eurydice quickly ran Luciel's moves in her head. She knew that Luciel knows two status moves that could either decrease the opponent's attack, or the opponent's defense. She would use growl so the Hoothoot's attack would be weaker, but she wanted this fight to finish as quickly as possible. " Yes, this is the only way." She said out loud, turning on to her attention on Luciel, who was now pacing around, his gaze fixed on his foe. " Luciel, tail whip." She commanded, using Poke-speak. It's not like the Hoothoot would mind which language she uses in this battle. Now the harder part is that Luciel is a Pokemon with four legs, while a Hoothoot has wings and could fly. Luciel is on a disadvantage, because he has to fight while using hops and jumps. This means that most of his energy would be spent on jumping around to try and hit the Hoothoot. That was only if the Hoothoot was flying close enough. On an ideal situation like this, Luciel should have at least two or three status moves. Like swift. So it's easier to aim on to any flying Pokemon. But then again, Luciel was still at a low level. Level 5. Eurydice should not hope a lot from him yet. But the little Eevee has a lot of potential. Luciel crouched down, using the spring from his four legs to try and hit the Hoothoot with a tail whip. His tail fur was fluffed out, to try and get even more damage. " And now, Covet!" Eurydice knew that Luciel should be able to pull this move off convincingly. It was his strongest offensive move. She relied on it much more than tackle. His feet back on solid ground, Luciel blinked once at the Hoothoot. And then his entire demeanor changed. He raised his tail coyly, swinging it from side to side. He perked his ears, looking at the Hoohoot with his most adorable expression. " What about you come down here?" He asked, his voice suddenly high pitched, and kind of girly. Of course, he was going to strike after that, but now he was busting out his appeal. And since Luciel loves showing off his appeal, he loves executing this move. If the Hoothoot doesn't come down, he's going to jump and strike it anyways. Luciel looks at the Hoothoot hopefully, with his doe eyes.

The hoothoot was quick to take to the sky when he was done attempting to attack, but came in a little closer at the eevee's comment. He came down, intrigued by what the eevee would have to say, before he got a face full of tail. He was sufficiently confused by the attack, and attempted to retaliate, failing when a covet attack came in. That attack was surprisingly strong given that the owl was holding no item, of course he had never seen this move before though, and simply became a bit confused. This meant that he quickly dismissed it, opting instead to dive in for another tackle and hypnosis, hoping to get the eevee to fall prey to sleep.

Luciel smirked, as his attacks hit the owl. Full points for him! The Hoothoot had fallen for his adorable covet. Of course, everyone will always fall for it. Who couldn't resist the most adorable fluffiest fluff ball on the planet? He now obviously had the advantage of this battle here. His attacks were causing much more damage than the attacks the owl was giving him. Now it seems that if his attacks hit in the next few rounds, he was going to win this battle. But the round isn't over yet. The point is, he must dodge the hypnosis that the owl was going to try to use on him. Eurydice didn't try cheering her Eevee on. Like her Eevee, she knew the condition on what was happening in the battle. It's a normal tactic. The opposing Pokemon will always use a status that can induce sleep or paralysis, and that means that dodging the offensive move would be quite inevitable. She didn't have to spell it out for her Pokemon. They were both in sync with what was happening. Luciel crouched low, so that he wouldn't get swept away by the next Owl's tackle, keeping his toes light so he could roll over away from the hypnosis. This technique worked. When the owl swooped in for another tackle, Luciel didn't tumble away, and therefore could buy enough time for himself to move from the hypnosis. The good thing about those sleep inducing attacks is that they have a very low accuracy. 60% accuracy, to confirm from Eurydice's point of view. The move is very obvious to be seen coming and since tackle seems to be the most offensive move that the owl had, Luciel had the battle wrapped up inside the bag. Eurydice looked around, her eyes scanning the battlefield. They were battling in open ground, so there was no extra advantage for the Hoothoot. If they were battling in the forest in the dark, it might be harder. " Tail whip, one more time." She told Luciel. "Right you are, boss!" Luciel chirped, fluffing out his tail. He looked like a fox with a squirrel tail. A bit hilarious. They always try to lower stats first before working on their offense. It's just so that the owl will get weakened faster. The little Eevee Pokemon nodded, sprinting towards the owl and jumping tail first, front paws outstretched. The fluffy tail was mostly just to hit the owl. The front paws were for him in case he hits the ground. If Eurydice calculated right, then this battle should be done the next final one round. Because if Luciel hits well, then the owl should be at a -2 Defense plus a 60 base powered attack. The owl should be done. Hopefully. Fingers crossed. Come on, Luciel! She thought. " Now covet for our offensive move." Eurydice directed. She had quite a flair for battling, before looking down at her Eevee. Although the move has quite a high accuracy, she's surprised that lots of Pokemon still falls for it for a second time. She watched Luciel bounce around, showing off his fluffy chest and showing the owl his large brown eyes. He's good at this. He's good at acting. Eurydice realized, as Luciel rolled over again, trying to lure the owl closer to him. Too bad that the owl didn't have any berry on him. It would be nice if he had an oran berry, because Luciel's health was now nearing the half mark. If his attacks missed, the owl would have the advantage again. The thing about the move covet is, its just supposed to snatch an item, while causing damage. But if the opposing Pokemon doesn't have an item, Luciel would strike anyways. Gender: Male / Level: 6 / Ability: Keen Eye Moves: Tackle, growl, foresight, hypnosis, defog8% / -1 Def Covet hit! Tail whip missed! Hoothoot used tackle! Hoothoot used hypnosis! This wild pokemon was having a fairly bad go of a battle that he thought would be much simpler. When the eevee came flying through the air to attack him once more he was able to fly himself out of the way. His advantage of flight was one he needed to use much more liberally. Clearly this pair had their strategy down pat. The hoothoot would attempt to dodge the next attack as well, thinking this was a possibility, but again he was well attacked by the eevee, bringing his flight pattern close to the ground and wobbling. While he thought that he would be grounded by this, the flying pokemon proved to have just one more roudn of attacks left in him. If he could just hypnotize this opponent, everyhting would be alright.
He kept himself up in the air as much as he could, but had to dip for the tackle. The hypnosis was largely from above, hoping to achieve a wider spread and thus better accuracy.

Eurydice was clearly displeased to see that the Hoothoot was still standing. How much HP was the Hoothoot on anyways? 8? 9? That was frustrating. She blinked at the Hoothoot's direction, tracing its movements in the sky. He looked quite worn out. So this seems that the battle would have to drag out for one more round. It took the bird two rounds to realize it can fly, and now it seems that Luciel would have to try a little bit harder to reach the Hoothoot. Now since tackle was Hoothoot's only offensive move, this means that he's going to have to dive down to Luciel to tackle. That's Luciel's only way of striking the Hoothoot, because she didn't think her Eevee's legs were strong enough to bounce that high into the sky. The perks of battling against bird Pokemon. Huh. You just can't reach them when they take off into the air. She looked at Luciel, wishing that the Eevee was telepathic. She didn't want to be screaming out instructions for the Hoothoot to be aware. " Dodge, he's going to hypnotize you." Eurydice called out. Luciel rolled out of the way, just in time before the jet of dizzying purple and gold blasted at the ground. Luciel wasn't that worn yet. He was actually still quite over his half-mark in his HP. But if the Hoothoot goes for another tackle, everything would be gone. The bird, with its low health, should be visibly slower now. Luciel followed it with his eyes. He should be able to track the bird's movement. In his next tail whip, he was going to make sure that the bird stays grounded. Or dazed long enough that Luciel would be able to land in his second attack. He doesn't want to be subjected to another round of dodging sleep inducing rings and being the victim of the owl's entire body weight. " Luciel, tail whip." Eurydice didn't really need to say it again, because Luciel already knew what to do. Just as the Hoothoot flew down to strike the Eevee, Luciel had crouched down, planting his legs on the soil so that his light weight doesn't slide from the momentum the owl had gathered from flying through the air. And using his tail, Luciel swung it as hard as he could, hoping that he hits the owl. He hoped that the owl was grounded on the ground, and because he couldn't see straight from the mouth of fluffy tail, he should be dazed. That should be able to buy Luciel a few seconds. A few seconds to at least pull things so that the battle was theirs to win. Because now Luciel's HP was a few points past the half mark. If the owl dodges for another two rounds, that would be a knockout for Luciel. He had to make use of his time frame, which was very, very small. Bristling his fur and flattening his ears, Luciel knew that he had only just a few seconds to pull out his offensive move against the owl that they were fighting. Quickly changing his body posture, Luciel charged forward in a Covet, but a not really cute one to begin with. He hoped that he could strike the owl as hard as he could, either with his paw or his body. But if the owl begins to fly away back into the sky, he would have to jump. His back legs were ready to spring, maybe to hook the owl with his paws and send them both crashing towards the ground. Gender: Male / Level: 6 / Ability: Keen Eye Moves: Tackle, growl, foresight, hypnosis, defogKO'ed Catch or pass? The hoothoot knew that he was just about done when he'd last attacked. His wings ached with the strain now of keeping himself awake, and his movements were slowed by his injuries. Still he fought the best he could, diving down to the eevee to attack... until he got yet another face full of the opponent's tail. This dazed him just enough for him to be hit by the covet attack next sent into him by the eevee. There was no fighting the unconscious state that followed. The covet did far too much damage for him to stay awake or in the air. He tumbled to the ground from the air, knocked out and deemed the loser of this battle.
